Special Announcement for the Congregation

We understand that many of you may be feeling a void in the area of serving.

Our encouragement to you as members of our church and followers of Jesus Christ is to safely reach out to as many people as possible within your family, community and on social media with your gifting, capabilities, and creativity:

+ Call someone from church to check in

+ Record a video of a prayer, scripture reading or a favorite song, post on social media, and tag the church

+ Write and send cards to our elderly members

+ Lift people up and inspire spiritual growth in these unprecedented times

As your staff and ministry leaders, we are committed to:

+ Sharing a new and relevant Gospel message each Sunday online

+ Personal calls from our Pastors and Elders

+ Provide online inspiration through Worship Arts, Children's Ministry, and Student Ministries

+ Meet as a staff and Elders to guide church ministry as safely as possible

+ Continue to limit personal interaction at the church as directed by the authorities, CDC, and MDH

PREVIOUS UPDATES STILL ACTIVE:
MARCH 16

We will be doing church a little differently for the next number of weeks.  This is a time not to be driven by fear but by courage as God is our source of strength.  It is also a time for us to grow spiritually away from the frenetic pace of life and to, "Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10.  Here are the opportunities for this time:

Sunday Morning: Video produced messages and inspiration will be posted here on our website MEDIA TAB via our Senior Pastor and Worship Arts Minister.

Children's Ministry: Resources have been prepared for Sunday School @ Home.  Awana will continue online.  Emails have been sent out to parents with further info and instructions.  Updates will also be posted on the Children's Ministry Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/mefckidsmin

Youth Ministry: Thrive Youth will live stream a quick time of worship and a 10-15 minute message on Wednesday nights at 7 pm.  There are two ways to watch - on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/mefcstudent or on Instagram @thrive_youth_mefc.

UPDATE SATURDAY MARCH 14

MEFC Congregation,

The elders and I have made a difficult decision to suspend our morning worship services until the coronavirus has run its course.  This will be a week by week decision made not out of fear but out of social obligation to others, especially to those whose health is more fragile.  Even if it seems it might be too early to make such a drastic decision at this time, it is important for us to comply with Governor Walz's recommendation and the Minnesota Department of Health not to gather in crowds over 250 people. I wrestled with this myself but I believe it is the prudent thing to do on our part by complying with our government and the CDC.  God has placed them in authority for a reason (Romans 13:1-7).  We choose to abide by their recommendation.  If we all work together, hopefully we will not overload our health system, keeping the curve number from spiking, and hopefully, prevent some of our older folks from getting the virus all together.

I have not made any solid plans yet but it is my goal to have a devotional talk for Sunday on our website and then continue our series in I Corinthians by means of video on the following Sundays if need be.

In the meantime, continue to let Sunday to be a day in which you praise and worship the Lord through music, Bible reading, or praying together as a family.  In addition let this unique time be an opportunity to help someone who cannot get out with groceries and other errands.

Stay tuned to your email, the MEFC FB page, and website.  We will try to keep you informed on announcements, choir practices, meetings etc.  We are not recommending total isolation for all but to use the common sense approach in small groups in regard to social distancing.  I will still keep my office hours so feel free to stop by.  You can also call our office at 320-589-2808.  Finally, please inform those who may not be receiving this notice.

Blessings,

Pastor Marlin
